Sports Mouth Guards

A mouth guard will protect your teeth while playing sports so that if you are hit with a ball or fall to the ground, you can have extra protection on your teeth. We know of some weightlifters that have had their weights fall on them and their teeth were saved by the sports guard. There are do-it-yourself, inexpensive “boil and bite” guards available for sale, but they do not give adequate protection for your mouth. They are not custom fitted, and in order to be able to provide protection, a guard really must be made to fit your individual bite.

Sports mouth guards are indicated for wear when practicing or playing sports like soccer, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, skating, hockey, kickball, weightlifting and even just working out. If there is a chance that you could fall or be hit in the mouth, then you should be wearing a mouth guard!

Anyone who works out or plays sports should use a guard to protect their teeth. If you have a chance of being hit in the mouth, have a mouth guard made to protect your teeth!

Impressions of your teeth will need to be taken, from which the sports mouth guard is manufactured in a dental lab or in the office. If it is done at Live Better Health Center, it can take as little as half an hour. The mouth guard can also be made in a laboratory, with a wait time of about seven days. This method is a better option because the guard will be more durable and will have a more precise custom fit. Also, when made in the lab, you can even add a logo, a team name, a personalized design or give props to your sponsor. Think about what kind of team morale this could boost! Now, get out and play without worrying!

You will have added protection against oral trauma with less need to worry when you or your children play rough. Please remember that pets love to chew on items like this, so make sure it is kept in a safe place when not in use.

What to Expect

There should be no discomfort and only protection. There may be a short period of time needed to get used to wearing the mouth guard.
